"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
Winterkill
Emmeline knows the woods outside her settlement are forbidden. The mysterious enemy that wiped out half her people lurks there, keeping them isolated in an unfamiliar land with merciless winters.
Living with the shame of her grandmother's insubordination, Emmeline has learned to keep her head down and her quick tongue silent. When the settlement leader asks for her hand in marriage, it's a rare opportunity to wash the family stain clean--even if she has eyes for another. But before she is forced into an impossible decision, her dreams urge her out to the woods, where she finds a path she can't help but follow. The trail leads to a secret that someone in the settlement will kill to protect. Her grandmother went down that path and paid the price.
If Emmeline isn't careful, she will be next.

I'm not completely sure about this one but I'm intrigued enough to say I'm willing to give it a try. It sounds a lot like The Forest of Hands and Teeth and the movie Red Riding Hood featuring Amanda Seyfried.
Ooh, sounds good! For some weird reason the summary reminds me a bit of the movie based on Red Riding Hood (can't remember what it's called...) and I don't know why. Anyway, thanks for sharing!

I'm really really intrigued about this one and it's already on my TBR list!
ReplyDeleteGreat pick, Mari!
I'm not sure about this one either! I love the cover, and the synopsis sounds intriguing, so I may have to give it a try.

Huh, this does give off Forest of Hands and Teeth vibes. That wasn't one of my favorite books, so I might give this a pass, but this seems to be zombie-free. (sorry if you love zombies - I'm suffering from zombie overload right now after reading a ton of zombie apocalypse stories!)
ReplyDeleteAh I can't wait for this one either!! I have a feeling it's going to be either really awesome...or a disaster! I guess we shall wait and see! Awesome choice hun! :D
ReplyDeleteIm really excited for this one too! The cool thing is that this one is on Netgalley! Great pick.

Ah! I actually JUST FINISHED this book! I won't say anything beyond the fact that it wasn't my favorite, but it does sound intriguing doesn't it? :D
