Acquisitions
I've been enjoying thrift store book shopping and during one of my visits I managed to sweep up these four beauties for the whooping total of $8 and in perfect condition. I am quite happy.
I've actually already read Gracling but it's a book I always think about and am happy to have on my shelves. Seraphina and Just Listen are two books that I've been meaning to pick up for years and I couldn't pass up a deal for them. Lastly, Something Borrowed was a spur of the moment purchase that was consolidated by my addiction to Suits (the protagonist is a lawyer) and my need for more summer romances.
Last Chance Reads
The addition of the above four books just required me to displace my bookshelf and reorganize everything. I'm quite happy with the turn out, some books got moved down and other ups (OUTLANDER now occupies my favourites shelf).
This is also when I drafted by last change reads list. Basically, the following books have been sitting on my shelves for several months/years. My goal this summer is to crack them open and see if I can give them another go or else it is time to donate. The City of Bones series which have fallen to my bottom shelf, should have also been on this shelf but... I couldn't let go just yet.
Discoveries
Lost in the middle of a book, I found my favourite elementary school bookmark. My brother bought this for me from a school book fair and I'm really happy to have it back.
I'm in the process of packing my shelves to move them to my new apartment! I cannot wait to start putting them all in their new place!
ReplyDeleteYAY for finding some awesome books for a very good price! Happy reading!
Oh man that is a tough. I don't have very many physical books but when we moved the heaviest boxes were the ones with my books. Good luck! Putting them back up is the best part.

I've been wanting to read Just Listen forever. Miss Peregrine's was great! I loved Shade! I balled my eyes out! Logan is so amazing! Enjoy!

Same, I've been hearing for years that Just Listen is one of Dessen's best works so I'm excited to finally check it out. I really hope to get to Mss Peregrines and Shade soon.

you have some serious book thrift shopping skillz mari! four for $8 is so good! i think the best i've ever gotten was like four books for $20 which i still take pride in since books are crazy expensive now. i check with bmv a lot for discounted books and they're always in pretty good condition at decent prices. they're often not super super cheap but at an affordable price i think and a significant mark down from the listed price so that's good. and i like your choices! graceling, i still need to get to but just listen is rather good.
ReplyDeleteand omg the la candy series, I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THOSE. i think i actually finished the series even though the writing was ehhh. but there's something about privileged rich famous girls in hollywood that gets me every time and there's so much drama so it's good for kinda a brainless read. though i also read them three years ago so i don't know if i'd still have the same reaction to the books now.
and haha i love how you included that bookmark because i actually own it. maybe it's something about canadian school book fairs? because i remember those bookmarks at every single one of my book fairs and i bought a bunch every single time. i'd stock up on quarters and just go to town so i have like a bunch. i have that one and one with different ways to say hello and one with popular surfing beaches and just really really random ones. i don't use them much but that's just because i don't really use bookmarks a lot to begin with but they are fun to look at!
I know! I think they priced them at $2 because they thought that they were children's books, which I guess you can define them as that... but still.
DeleteHaha, I picked LA Candy up a couple of years ago and probably should have read it then. But it's still here and I feel guilty if I get rid of it before I give it a try.
I used to LOVE the book fairs. Now that I look back, the selection wasn't all there but I always pounced on the bookmark table. This is all that I have to show for those days though.

I loved Seraphina so, so much! You got a fantastic deal on those books; I love checking my local thrift store's book section every once in a while- you never know what treasures you'll find! Happy reading! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really excited for Seraphina. It was one of those books that I've always wanted to read but never had the chance. It's on my shelf now.

Awesome haul! Graceling was such a good read but I still haven't read the rest. I've been meaning to check out Let's Get Lost! It sounds like such a cute summer read. I'll be looking forward to your thoughts.

You are missing out my friend. I think Fire was my favourite of the series.
DeleteLet's Get Lost is actually a book I dnfed before, so I hope this time I can get through it and actually make up my mind. Thanks for dropping by.

Love those bargaining skills! I never find anything decent at thrift stores here. But you got some pretty good looking ones there! The only new book I got this week was a ecopy of Snow Like Ashes. I'm a hobo and can't afford physical copies most the time lmao! One day I'll have a pretty shelf with a ton of books.
ReplyDeleteLove the post!
Well then you've come to the right place, P.E. and I created the definition of book hobos. They are expensive and with our habits of reading many many books it's not financially smart. Gotta love the thrift shops for helping lessen the hobo feels :P
