STS and Summer Cleaning in Mari's Bookshelf

Stacking the Shelves is hosted at Tynga's Reviews

Acquisitions

I've been enjoying thrift store book shopping and during one of my visits I managed to sweep up these four beauties for the whooping total of $8 and in perfect condition. I am quite happy.

I've actually already read Gracling but it's a book I always think about and am happy to have on my shelves. Seraphina and Just Listen are two books that I've been meaning to pick up for years and I couldn't pass up a deal for them. Lastly, Something Borrowed was a spur of the moment purchase that was consolidated by my addiction to Suits (the protagonist is a lawyer) and my need for more summer romances.

Last Chance Reads

The addition of the above four books just required me to displace my bookshelf and reorganize everything. I'm quite happy with the turn out, some books got moved down and other ups (OUTLANDER now occupies my favourites shelf).

This is also when I drafted by last change reads list. Basically, the following books have been sitting on my shelves for several months/years. My goal this summer is to crack them open and see if I can give them another go or else it is time to donate. The City of Bones series which have fallen to my bottom shelf, should have also been on this shelf but... I couldn't let go just yet.

Discoveries

Lost in the middle of a book, I found my favourite elementary school bookmark. My brother bought this for me from a school book fair and I'm really happy to have it back.

What did you get this week? Are you clearing out your shelves? Any fun discoveries?

Collective Outlander, Library and Manga Book Haul

Outlander series #3-6
Outlander (#3-6) - Diana Gabaldon
So this happened. After my last book haul titled helpfully as A Very Scottish Book Haul, I think this was a given next step. I'm really enjoying this series and actually finished Book 2 last night so I'm dying to dive into Voyager and am glad to have the next few.

Curses and Smoke
Curses and Smoke - Vicky Alvear Shecter
This ones a library book that I've been meaning to pick up. I love Ancient Rome and Volcanos and Gladiators!!!

I came by these two lovely addition to my bookshelf this week whilst at the library. My total shopping came down to a whooping $2.00 , I'm quite proud :)

Nana - Ai Yazawa
I read Nana a couple of years ago, I never finished the series but the story has stayed with me and I loved the first volume. Also, Ai Yazawa is one of my favourite mangaka's, I adore her art. She is also the author of Paradise Kiss, another all time favourite.

Godchild - Kaori Yuki
This one was a on the spot pick. I've never heard of it before but the synopsis and art looks good. Should be fun.

The Magic of Window Shopping

With the excitement that has been my life as of late I’ve come to the realization that for once the YA isles of the book store aren’t all empty of new fruits for me to plunder. Indeed I’ve actually missed many and though this makes me a little sad as it signifies my absence from books but it also excites me. There are so many more book for me to devour. One would think by 1000 book long goodreads tbr would have solved that but there is something entirely different about seeing books in a physical state. Dare I say, its magical.

So I browsed the shelves and found some of the books I'd been pining over on the blog like The Young Elites, Exquisite Captive etc.

But what really interested me was the books I'd never seen before but caught my attention. Here is my analysis:

Disclaimer: my status' are composed of brutal honesty. I'm a horribly picky person who writes off books like different flavours of ice cream (hard but do it anyway). Doesn't mean I don't end up picking up the book and hitting myself with it for being ignorant.

Evil Librarian - Michelle Knudsen

I have to say my local library has got some hot new librarians how much should we bet that they are all evil?

Status: Probably not but let's appreciate it's beauty!

The Spirit Glass Charade - Colleen Gleason

Nice glass orb thing!!! I picked this one because I like the cover... #noshame
I now realize it is the second book in a series.

Status: This one is about Bram Stokers sister and Sherlock Holmes' niece.... will have to make room :)

Some Boys - Patty Blount

This one is definitely my kind of book. The synopsis kills me and I would really like to see how the author tackles the issue.

Status: GIVE ... IT ... TO... MEEEE

The Bodies We Wear - Jeyn Roberts

I like revenge books just as I like the show. I love this cover and damn is the synopsis amazing!

Status: Omg this is perfect!

Vango: Between the Sky and Earth - Timothee de Fombelle

How freaking cute! That cover is gold and the synopsis sounds like a boss. Not to mention the places that the protagonist travels to: Paris, Mediterranean Islands, Scottish Forests!!!

Status: For Scotland!
Did someone say Scotland!
I'm sorry... I had to :)

Have You Read or Added Any of These to Your TBR?

A Very Scottish Book Haul Indeed!

Stacking the Shelves is a book haul meme that comes from the lovely Tynga at Tynga's Reviews.

These have been somewhat of a rare treat on this blog. Mostly because P.E. and I get most of our books from the library and at random intervals that don't often work well with our blog schedule. Any who, I recently bought some super exciting books and they've made me excited about the prospect of sharing them with you guys.

Can you see it? It's only a few days old and already super loved, not to mention look at it's view.

How about now? Not just any book gets to sit on my lap.

Yes? No? How about now?

Yes, I broke and bought not one but the first TWO books in the Outlander series (Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber). I didn't originally plan to read the books as I had excuses such as:
  1. I have work.
  2. University has enough reading.
  3. They are gigantic!

But, 8 episodes and those evil STARZ people moved the the remainder of the season to come out in APRIL!! You crazy?! So of course, I couldn't live that long with out a wee bit of Scottish in me, so I snatched myself a copy.

Warning, I now talk to myself in a bad impersonation of a Scottish accent.

The End!
Jamieee!!!
