STS/Showcase Sunday: Birthday Edition

Stacking the Shelves and Showcase Sunday are two weekly memes held by Tynga's Reviews and Books, Biscuits and Tea. Here we share all the new and amazing books we acquired over the past week!

So it's been a while since either of us did one of these, but I finally had an occasion for it. Last week was my birthday and I turned 18! I'm very excited about finally reaching this milestone and I'm slowly testing all the perks that come along with it :) 

I didn't buy any of the hardcopy books. They were all gifts from my wonderful friends, who have come to realize that nothing makes me happier than books for my birthday.



I've actually read this one, but I borrowed it from the library when I first read it and ever since I've been collecting the series. This was the only book that I didn't have, so I'm very happy to have the whole series and I can't wait to reread them.

I've read this one too, but a friend offered it to me and I wasn't going to pass it up :)

I finally have it! I'm so scared to read this one because of all the buzz I've heard. I've tried very hard these past few months to keep myself from being spoiled and the curiosity is killing me! I need to know what happens! Also, I can't wait for the movie, it looks amazing.

I did treat myself to some ebooks for my kobo as well.


I'm currently reading The Broken Stars and enjoying it though my reading has been interrupted by school. I'm also really dying to read Erased. I think I might try to this weekend (or tonight!). Fireblood is my fantasy fix. It was in a waiting on wednesday a month or so ago and I'm ecstatic to have it in my possession.

      There are things that you throw out after a while and then there are those that you can keep forever; books are one of those. I'm very excited to read Allegiant, I've waited long enough.

    Erased sounds awesome! I absolutely loved These Broken Stars, very mysterious and reminded me a little of the best seasons of Lost...

      I'm so excited for Erased the first book, Altered was awesome. I think Lost is a good comparison, another one is the titanic.

    Happy Birthday! 18 IS a big one! Super fun too :) I really liked Blue Bloods too! I am in the middle of that series, I think I'm on Revelations now ;)
    I haven't yet read These Broken Stars but I am excited to! :)

    I love, loved the writing in These Broken Stars. It is gorgeous. And I loved everything about the book except the ending. I am interested in hearing what you think. I feel like I want every book blogger to read this one. :D

    Oh gosh, I LOVED Allegiant. I know it gets a lot of flack, and it was SO hard to avoid all the spoilers. Argh. I hope you like it. These Broken Stars is one of my top favourites now. ;)

    Allegiant is his on my To Buy list, but I wanted to use my Christmas vouchers to bulk out my collection. I'm also looking forward to seeing Divergent at the cinemas - I loved the first two books.

    Happy (belated) birthday and congratulations on being an adult! I would offer advice, but I've only had 6 months of experience at this.
    Those are lovely books! Blue Blood & Shadow Kiss are both books I enjoyed a lot! Allegiant has a lot of people divided, I hope it meets your expectations :)

    Weeee! Glad to find a kindred spirit in you, Mari. I also love the VA series. I look forward to reading your Allegiant review. It was meh for me.

    And I hope that you will love These Broken Stars as much as I did. Awesome romance, fleshed out characters and a plot that is to die for. Hahaha.

    I absolutely tore through the Blue Bloods series! They alternated between really good and quite bad for me but it was a good read :) I haven't started the Divergent series because I'm afraid of all the hype D: Will definitely have to read it before the film comes out this year but waah hype-phobia kicking in..
