These Broken Stars managed a very curious win over Cruel Beauty, by winning the poll yet losing the comments. At some point, I realized there was something very wrong with the poll and since this is the second week in a row the blogger poll has malfunctioned, I'm using a new one this week.
That being said, I compared the comments to the poll and These Broken Stars still gets the victory. People enjoyed the romance, the colours, the thin font, and the gorgeous dress. That means These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagon Spooner moves on to face this week's cover, Flights and Chimes and Mysterious Times by Emma Trevayne.
First off, I discovered Flights and Chimes and Mysterious Times through The Midnight Garden's exclusive cover reveal and giveaway, so be sure to check that out. I think both covers are stunning. They're both dark and mysterious. They both have titles that stand out. These Broken Stars is more dramatic and Flights and Chimes and Mysterious Times has some more detail. I love them both and I'm extremely curious to see which one you prefer.
So let's just get to it! The poll is at the bottom, but can also be found on the sidebar to the right. You get a week to vote and comment on what cover you prefer.
Flights and Chimes and Mysterious Times all the way (well, that was quite the mouthful!). I've always really liked illustrated covers and the typography makes my heart soar.
ReplyDeleteBy the end of this post, I was a pro at writing it. :P The typography is stunning. :)

Definitely Flights and Chimes and Mysterious Times! The other cover is pretty too, a little too sparkly, but the first one is absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThese Broken Stars is incredibly sparkly. I've never seen the hardcover yet so I wonder how the sparkles translate.

No way! I had no idea that Cruel Beauty lost the last round. Strange. For some reason Flights really doesn't appeal to me too much (but I am in the definite minority) so I have to go with These Broken Stars.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was a pretty crazy battle. It seemed like These Broken Stars had a lot of super silent fans. Hopefully, this week's battle is good too :P

Flights and Chimes steals my heart! That cover has everything I love. I have not heard of the book yet, but I am certainly going to go check it out now!
ReplyDeleteYeah, me too. The cover looks good, but it also seems to promise an interesting story too which is always appealing.

Wow. I had a hard time picking a favorite out of these two. Flights and Chimes is a new book for me. I'll have to check it out now.
ReplyDeleteThat means I've done my job right :p Both these covers are super pretty, but in different ways. It's simply a matter of preference.

This is the second time that I've seen the cover to Flights and Chimes and Mysterious Times and it's seriously one of those that really just pops at you -- makes me want to take a really long second look! :)) It has so much going on but in a good way, in the way that absolutely works! The cover itself really tells a story -- love it!
ReplyDeleteI think it totally succeeds at spotlighting the story. I feel like after reading the book, I'll look back at the cover and notice even more!

I'm voting for Flights, etc. because I'm bitter at These Broken Stars for unseating Cruel Beauty. How's that for a reason?
ReplyDeleteHaha. Don't worry, I'm pretty sure you'll see a lot of Cruel Beauty over the YA blogosphere and even TSC. Seems like a cool story. ;)
