Cover Wars: Dissonance vs. Dreams of Gods & Monsters

Cover Wars is a weekly showdown of two beautiful covers. The winner, as voted by you, goes on to face a new cover, and wins bragging rights. This is basically a fun way to discuss what we like in covers.

Last week, Dissonance finally managed to knock off The Winner's Curse from the top spot. It was a tight battle between two covers with some stunning dresses. This week, Erica O'Rourke's book cover faces off against the dramatic Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor.

There's almost an overload of pretty here. Seriously, these covers are absolutely stunning but in completely different ways. Dreams of Gods & Monsters brings the drama, the high contrast with that amazing shade of gold and that gorgeous smoky eye. Dissonance brings a more suave, oceanic feeling. I'm kind of in love with both of them.

As beautiful as both covers are, only one cover wins and moves on to next week. So who's it gonna be? That's up to you.

Let the Cover Wars begin!

  1. I'm still sticking with Dissonance-I like the colors more than the harsh yellow and of course I adore a pretty dress!

    1. I'm noticing a theme in what you like- pretty dresses! I know some people are over them but I'm not! :p

  2. Obviously it's going to be Dreams of Gods and Monsters <3 I can't believe I'd missed to see the cover! *sigh* I can only imagine how good it will look next to the other two of the trilogy. So far, I think this one is the most beautiful of the three!

    1. I think this is the best of the trilogy as well, and I thought the second with the red was stunning. I love how the whole series matches!

  3. I have to go with Dissonance again -- just based on the covers, I think this one stands out more and I'd be more apt to pick it up.

  4. As much as I love the Daughter of Smoke and Bone Series (and I seriously cannot wait to get my hands on DoGaM), compared to the first two covers which had small, but still powerful pops of color, I think the cover of the third book is a little yellow-overload. I like the symbolism, but it kind of hurts my head to look at too long. Unfortunately. I do really like Dissonance's cover, if not more, but I'm imagining the story in DoGaM to really kick-butt!

    1. I do agree, it pops out way more than the other colours, and I guess it's a hit or miss for some people. I wasn't too much of a fan of the first, but the covers are so pretty I want the whole series now!
