Cover Wars: Perfect Ruin vs The Winner's Curse

Cover Wars is a weekly showdown of two beautiful covers. The winner, as voted by you, goes on to face a new cover, and wins bragging rights. This is basically a fun way to discuss what we like in covers.
Last week there was an extremely tight battle between Flights and Chimes and Mysterious Times and The Winner's Curse. Both covers spent some time in the lead, but ultimately, The Winner's Curse was victorious. This week, The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski has a new challenge: Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano.

Both covers are highly dramatic with dark covers. Perfect Ruin is a little more detailed, but it draws you in to that gorgeous title font. The Winner's Curse also has some cool font effects with the cover girl delicately holding on to the 'r'. Both covers are beautiful, but only one cover will win.

Which cover do you prefer? Which cover should win Cover Wars? You have a week to vote, starting... now!

Let the Cover Wars begin!

  1. I love that we're looking down on her for The Winner's Curse-makes a change from staring at the girl in the pretty dress.

  2. I still say that The Winner's Curse is my favorite! Even though I love the details around the sides on the Perfect Ruin cover, I can't get over the angle of the photo of The Winner's Curse and the R. It's love.

    1. It's all a matter of preference! Both covers have some very nice touches to them.

  3. This was such a hard decision! I think that I like the way that The Winner's Curse interacts with the title a little bit more. It seems a little more unique.

    I love this feature!

    1. Glad you like it!

& the way The Winner's Curse interacts with the title is a huge plus.

  4. I love the Winner's Curse cover but I think having the title and author's name superimposed over the photo makes the photo hard to see and the text hard to read. Or maybe the sideways text hurts my brain. But both of these are stunning!

    1. I always end up tilting my head sideways a little to read the name of the cover. I definitely understand though.

  5. Oh gosh, both such beautiful covers but I voted for The Winner's Curse because I'm in love with it. And I can't even articulate how badly I want to read this book! Great showdown this week!!
