Books + Music: How To Save A Life, What's Left of Me + Crash and Burn

I enjoy listening to music like most people. There are some books I link to the songs I listen to. They're linked based on music or atmosphere, or tone. Sometimes, the connection is all kinds of ridiculous, but everyone's different. Here are some books and songs that accompany them in my mind.

Love this song. Whenever I see this book, it plays in my head. They're not the same story, but I feel like some of the mood is the same.

This is another one that doesn't need to be explained. I can just imagine Eva feeling like this- neglected, alone, forgotten.

This song I feel is so energetic and slightly angry, (maybe manic too) which totally fits Crash and Burn. Also, damn it's catchy.  I feel like grabbing the matches from the cover of the book and lighting them all up!

Any songs you automatically associate to books? Or the other way around?

  1. Love this post! I've always wanted to do something like this but I'm just too lazy to do it sometimes. I think you've prodded me in the right direction though. :)

  2. I love that you used The Fray song because I associate them too. The other one I do is Lady Antebellum's "When You Were Mine" with Rebecca Serle's book of the same name and Deb Caletti's The Story of Us with Taylor Swift's song. I like when the titles coincide :)

    1. It's definitely fun! I don't know those two titles you mentioned, but I love when titles coincide. I think at some points I even turn the song on when I'm reading to get in the atmosphere.

  3. Ooooh, what a great post! Now whenever I read What's Left of Me I'll have that song in my head!

I always think of White Rabbit (the SuckerPunch version) when I read Splintered by A.G. Howard and the new album of Alter Bridge have a few songs that would be very fitting for dystopian books!
