15 Day Book Blogger Challenge: Day 2

Hosted by April at Good Books and Good Wine. An awesome series of posts where I get to share some of my thoughts.

On Day 1 I wrote about my 15 bookish confessions. Day 2 asks about bedtime reading rituals.

After getting ready for bed, there aren't many things I do. It's a little sad but the first thing I do is plug in my phone to charge it and check my notifications for new tweets, texts, emails or calls. Then I do some web browsing. This can take a while. When I decide it's time to get rid of the technology, I set my bed up the way I like it with the pillows in certain places. Then I take the book I'm currently reading and just read it. Nothing too exciting.

I know in the winter, sometimes I'll take some hot chocolate before going to bed. I don't do this often though because I eat dinner pretty late so I'm usually not hungry by the time I'm reading.

Sometimes (lately) I end up texting a lot near the time I should be reading. (I'm looking at you Mari!) Technology is a huge distraction for me so I tend not to get much reading done. Also, I can't sleep in the next morning so I never read more than what feels like half an hour.

What's your ritual?

  1. I don't have a ritual, I usually read right before I sleep & that's it!

  2. That's a nice ritual-I don't even always read before bed. Sometimes I'm too tired and just need to curl up and go to sleep. But I always brush my teeth!
