Yes, I'm behind on April's challenge. The weekend was unexpectedly busy.
Anyway, ICYMI:
Day 1 was about listing my 15 bookish confessions.
Day 2 was about my bedtime reading ritual.
Day 3 was about blogger BFFs.
Day 4 was about the last book I flung.
Day 5 requires me to recommend you guys a tearjerker.
I'm going to pick a book that I expect many people picked. It's the first book that comes to mind because it broke my heart in a billion different ways and by the time I was done I hated the book a little for making me feel so sad.
This book slayed me. It was impossible not to cry and hate the world for hurting so many people. John Green is very cruel and he incorporated a plot twist that completely blind sided me. I didn't see it coming and so I was devastated. Completely, utterly devastated. I'm a little scared of this book because I did love the characters and I connected with them maybe too much. It was a little bit torturous to read because I had to keep reminding myself that this was just a book.
I had trouble reading anything else for days later. The Fault in Our Stars had that kind of effect on me to the point where I felt a little bad recommending it to everyone else. I think it's an incredibly powerful book and definitely a tearjerker.
What do you think?

Totally agree. We bawled while reading (even Sarah teared up, and she's not a crier) and we're so glad that it's gotten the wide readership it deserves. Can't wait to see it on the big screen someday!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm maybe alone in that I don't want every book to have a movie. I'm not sure if the film version would appeal to me... but that's because I'm extremely critical when it comes to films. I feel like it might ruin my vision of the book, you know?

Just asked my mom if this book made her cry and she completely spoiled it for me...thanks mom! I expect that it will make me cry when I get the chance to read it because it's pretty easy for me to cry.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I think the spoiler itself was so unexpected for me, I couldn't believe it. Yeah, it makes you cry a lot. Even when you try not to. Have fun reading it :p
DeleteThis book made me a bit depressed when I finished it. Stupid emotions!
ReplyDeleteUgh I know. I was all angsty and "I hate the world!" after reading this book. I think there's also a level of catharsis.
